Bandmaster Bobby Irvine
Psalm 150 states, “Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute.” That is the aim of our music ministry at Ayr - to use our musical resources and talents in a relevant way to attract people and to share with them the Good News of Jesus Christ, that he came to save us all and give us his free gift of eternal life.
Music ministry is an integral part of our programme at Ayr Citadel. Whether it is Traditional Brass, Choral or Contemporary it is done to Glorify God and not ourselves. The members of our musical groups come from a wide variety of occupations and pursuits. Some are students and others are teachers, nurses, and those working in industry and the local community. All are volunteers who share a common commitment to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and to support the mission of the music groups. These groups seek to enhance and support worship while providing a means of outreach and spiritual growth for the Lord and the Army.
Bobby Irvine is our Corps' Musical Director. He is a successful businessman and accomplished tenor soloist who is well known locally and within Salvation Army circles for his talents. He is equally at ease singing in our Sunday worship service as in the Royal Albert Hall, and has sung at Salvation Army events all across the UK & North America. Bobby uses his talents as an extension of his service and commitment to His Lord. Bobby is married to Ruth, who with their two children Rachel and Andrew, are all active in music making.
